"IMAGINE BEFORE CREATE"
This is Batiskafo’s immersion zone, where the secret to the object’s creation
resides. Tools and different kinds of materials are stored here; sometimes they mix
revealing new ideas that needed that casual encounter to hatch in the imagination.
OPEN WORKSHOPBatiskafo’s workshop is found at the back of the shop, a crystal dividing the areas gives access to the shop so the visitors may see the work’s process. It is divided in three sections: stained glass, costume jewellery and drawing.
WE USE THE SAME STAINED GLASS TECHNIQUE TO THE ONE INVENTED AT THE END OF THE 19th CENTURYThe method we follow in the stained glass elaboration was invented by Louis Comfort Tiffany, who at the end on 19th century revolutionized the world of glass, among others, using copper with tin welding instead of the classical lead rods used in churches’ stained glass windows in the 13th century. The results are similar, however Tiffany’s technique gives design versatility and delicate results.
CRAFTWORK WITH ART
The watercolours come in the most artistic and imaginative part of Batiskafo, for their creation one must submerge in a very private world of fantasy and colour. All of them are original designs. Once finished they are scanned so they can be resized to the adequately for brooches, necklaces and other costume jewellery. To craft these pieces we always use quality materials, combining crystal, gems and hypoallergenic brass, sometimes with a patina applied to achieve vintage aspect
